It's actually fun. Yes, really
Nobody expects to enjoy getting their photo taken. Then they do. There are usually a lot of bad jokes (I think they're hilarious), the nerves wear off in the first few minutes, and most people leave saying it was the most fun they've had being photographed. When you're actually relaxed, it shows up in your eyes, and that's the difference between a stiff headshot and one that looks like you.
Coaching, not just clicking
Almost nobody knows how to pose, and you shouldn't have to. I direct you through every shot, so you're never left guessing while someone silently takes photos. Before I was a photographer, I was a teacher for 13 years. Reading people is the job.
Hair and makeup, included
My stylist Molly handles hair and makeup in-studio so you look polished without looking airbrushed. She stays through your whole session, catching the flipped collar and the stray hair before they end up in the photo.
You choose your photos before you leave
No waiting days for a gallery link and picking alone between 200 nearly identical photos. We review your images together on a large screen during the session, and you leave knowing exactly which ones you got.

This is what coaching actually looks like, and the moment someone forgets about the camera.
I was training another photographer at an onsite session when a man next in line told her he wasn't photogenic. She kept telling him he was handsome and charming, and the more she reassured him, the more he pulled back. So I stepped in. I asked a few questions as I adjusted the lights. He mentioned his kid. I asked for their names.
He lit up, talked about watching his son grow into a young adult, that particular pride that sneaks up on you. I told him about mine. Somewhere in there we landed on the arts, why it matters, what it does for a kid to grow up with it, and there wasn't a stiff shoulder left in the room.
We get them to a place of comfort by discovering what actually matters to them and talking about it until they forget the camera's in the room. That might take time, and it's the difference between a technically fine photo and one that looks real and authentic. The Full Session gives you that room. If you already know exactly what you need instead, the Express Session gets you one great photo fast.
Every face is different. Your session should be too.
A headshot for a startup founder isn't the same as one for an attorney, a nonprofit director, or a therapist. Before we shoot, we talk about where this photo is going and who needs to trust you when they see it. A woman CIO speaking to a room of mostly male peers needs a different photo than the same woman mentoring other women in tech. Same person, different job. We build the look around whichever room you're walking into.

You don't have to know exactly what you need yet. That's what the three hours are for. Ideal for:

- Only Pay for What You KeepThere's no charge for shooting extra outfits, so bring as many as you want. You'll pick your favorites together on the screen when you're done, at $400 each. Most people leave with about six.
- Styling IncludedMolly, our hair and makeup stylist, is included in your session. She works with you on whatever the day calls for, a full look or a small adjustment before the camera.

GOT QUESTIONS?
It depends on the session. A Full Session is $395 for three hours with styling included plus $400 per photo, an Express Session is $400 for one finished photo in fifteen minutes, and a Young Adult Session (23 and under) is $150 for fifteen minutes. If something could be fixed with makeup, hairspray, or a whitening strip, we'll clean it up by default: blemishes, flyaways, glare. Anything permanent, a scar, a wrinkle, gray hair, we leave alone unless you ask. Before you leave, we'll ask if there's anything specific you'd like changed, so you're deciding what "you" looks like, not us.
Together, on a large screen, before you leave. There's no waiting days for a gallery link and scrolling alone through 200 nearly identical shots. You'll know exactly which photos you got before you walk out the door.
Your retouched images are delivered within 3 business days of your session.
Bring your wardrobe. All of it. We can't shoot what we don't have in the room, and having options on hand means we can adjust once we see what's actually working on camera, rather than guessing beforehand.
The studio is at 75 Pleasant Street, Studio 132 in Malden, a six minute walk from Malden Center on the Orange Line and about twenty minutes from downtown Boston by car. Sessions are by appointment only. Once you book, you'll get a text with directions and information on the nearby parking garage.
