Super Cool or Super Cute?

What started as a quick portrait for two kids with a tiny digital camera turned into ten minutes of pure, unscripted joy.

Thirty Seconds and a Little Trust

While photographing for an outdoor public event this weekend, from the corner of my eye I saw some teenagers shooting with a tiiiiiiiiiiiiny digital camera from the early 2000s. I told them I was shooting for the organization and asked if they'd like a portrait, and they said yes. So I asked them if they wanted super cool or super cute, and they chose the latter, so we got to work. Thirty seconds later, with a little posing and a few "trust the photographer" moments, we got this.

I had a little fun. The organization got their website cover photo. And these kids received a wonderful photo with their friends. And we spent the next ten minutes shooting more as more friends from their group joined.

Pure Joy for Joy's Sake

Sometimes I feel like the work I do is very prescriptive. And sometimes, like this, is just pure joy for joy's sake.
